Sending "emails" before the Internet

Image
Sending "emails" before the Internet     Just like any other inventions, email also has a great history to look at. There were interesting stories which happened in the past which then became the premise of our great electronic mail system. For example, a fun fact is that the first version of email existed before the Internet! How is that possible? Well, then it is time to dive deeper! Image: Collection     Most of you might knew that in the past, computer was at the size of a room, what a massive machine. Back then, there was no "personal computer" because people had to share it. Everything started in  Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). At first, people had to sign up for time to work with the computer (just like how I have to sign up for group study room at university). Email didn't exist, so if they want to leave a message to another user, their method was to leave a file on the computer and the receiver will read it when it is their time to work wi...

When the AI lives on your devices: Local Models & the future of creative freedom

Image
Hey everyone, this is Henry! Image: Bloomberg      We’re living in the era of AI-everything - from ChatGPT for daily works, Claude writing essays to Midjourney painting dreamscapes. However, while everyone is busy in the cloud, there’s a quiet revolution happening right on our own machines. Local AI models — yeah, the ones that you can download and run on your own computer or laptop — are opening up a whole new world for creators. No subscriptions, no internet, no censorship. Just raw, customizable, always-there brainpower that bends to your vibe. For indie creators, writers, digital artists, and developers, this isn’t just about being techy — it’s about reclaiming control. And maybe, just maybe, it’s the next step in creating with AI, not just using it. Always ready     What is the most difference between a cloud and a local version? Obviously, the local models will always be ready when you need, as long as your computer still has battery. Th...

CES 2205: A mind-blowing event

Image
Image: Socialsnackbar Hello y’allπŸ‘‹! I’m Henry, and today, on this post, what should we focus on🧐? Well, it is the event CES 2025! In case you don’t know, CES is a trade show where a lot of tech companies will showcase their concepts, developing, or finished products. If you’ve heard of Rabbit R1 (AI gadget πŸ‡) or Samsung MicroLED TV (transparent TV 😢‍🌫️), they were the products which were introduced in CES. For me, it’s one of my favorite tech events, because each year, there were tons of innovative tech products introduced! And I couldn’t imagine some of them existed (am I exaggerating?). Alright, let’s focus on what I’m about to do. This year, instead of watching the YouTube videos, I decided to visit CES’ website to see all of the products myself. As expected, they are mind-blowing ideas! There are 458 items/products this year, and I found my 18 favorite items after 2 hours of scrolling. I’ve categorized them into different topics: accessibility, health & medical, education...

Henry's Sunday at ICIA Vietnam 2025

Image
25th February 2025 Hi everyone, I’m Henry πŸ—£️πŸ”Š!!! Guess what? 2 Sundays ago (16th February 2025), I participated in a STEM competition with my other 2 friends. The event was called “ICIA Vietnam 2025”. Our teacher told us about the event in the end of November 2024. At first, I didn’t think of joining this event because I was lazy. However, he told us that we will get a 10 for our formative assessment, so… I joined with two other classmates. We started to plan for our project then and went to the event for the last two weeks. I’ll tell you a bit about what we went through. It was fun (and felt like hell ☠️). However, I’m not so good at writing long stories, so I’ll present it as a timeline. Hope you enjoy πŸ‘. And now, this is the full timeline of our journey prepared for ICIA Vietnam 2025: 13th December 2024: 10:35 AM: Henry created a Google doc file πŸ“„for planning on this project. 11:00 AM: The trio started listing possible or interesting ideas πŸ’‘. 2:20 PM: We decided on the fi...

Exploring the ban of TikTok in the US

Image
TikTok being banned. Image: Getty Hi everyone, this is Henry and Tiana! We are back, this time, we bring what we have explored, and our perspective on the ban of TikTok in the US. A few weeks ago, TikTok was the center of arguments after the US government decided to ban this app in the country the second time, and then allowed it to run its service again after approximately 14 hours. This was strange, maybe to most people, and also to us. TikTok has been a controversial topic for a while now. It is not argued that the app also brings a lot of potential and benefits to almost everyone and the economy.  TikTok is often seen as an entertainment platform, with viral dance challenges or comedy acting. However, its potential goes beyond that. We can clearly see that TikTok is a platform for creativity. With simple tools for editing and sharing content, almost everyone can become a creator. This has brought a new job opportunity for society, for example, some people have a dream of follow...
